Happy Birthday Mama!

January 30, 2009

I have been meaning to updated my site but being sick for the last week has pretty much left me out of commission. Darn cedar… it is kicking my tail. Anyways with that said I would like to say Happy Birthday to the woman who, thru her, God gave me life… So for that I will be forever grateful for that… even when we don’t agree. lol Love ya ma!!!

The Stone Age & a New Age

January 22, 2009

I suppose, if I had had to live in the Stone Ages and not have internet or cable tv, I would’ve survived… But since I don’t… not having it for the last day and some change is not fun. I had all these insight for things to say but now I have no time to write them… nor any desire… lol

Had my internet been working yesterday I would’ve posted about the Inauguration more than likely… I’m not all that versed in political subject matter… and I won’t lie and say that I was all that intrigued in the election process, but I must admit that I was excited by all the excitement & significance of the day… And when I saw their first dance at the “Ball in the ‘Hood”, as I kept wanting to call it, it was at that moment I realized what a beautiful couple the Obamas make and I could understand how drawn in people are by them.

Anyways I will leave you with an email I sent to some friends on Tuesday before our internet went kuput.
My last post was on Martin Luther King…today we witness the embodiment of that dream… It’s hard to imagine that not to far back in history, black people were literally considered less than fully human… that we have gone from emancipation to inauguration… Regardless of how you feel about politics, I want you to realize how this signifies how far our country has come as a whole, but it is not over yet… we still have a long way to go. And I pray that one day, when our grandchildren are around and are entertaining the ideas of being future doctors, lawyers, even senators or the president… that as of Jan. 20, 2009, that dream won’t be as far fetched as once was… What a great day for America…

A Dream Not Deferred

January 19, 2009

We all have dreams. Some to get married and have children… to get that great new job that pays well AND that you love, but few have dreams as noble as Dr. King. A dream of equality, that people would not be judged by the color of their skin, but of the content of their character. The color of our skin only makes up 1% of our make up, but sadly we allow that 1% to easily divide us. Wishing I had more words to say, but, during this historic time in history, I would like to take a minute to say Happy Martin Luther King Day and thank you to the man who helped make the dream possible.

The Big Picture

January 14, 2009

I asked some of my facebook friends what they thought about this layout and a lot of them said they liked it, but being ever nosey like myself, they wanted to know who the picture were of. And I can understand that because like I said… I’m a tad on the nosey side… lol For all asked, here are the pictures I used. They were taken from various type of sessions: portraits, weddings, engagements, events… and I chose them because of their vibrant colors, or because I just liked them and they could stand alone with out seeing the complete view. So here they go. I know each photo is worth a 1000 words but I am going to try and keep it shorter than that.

Kisha & Javier

I am shooting their wedding in July. They’re a really fun couple, it was fun to shoot their engagement and I absolutely loved their photographs!!! To say I’m excited about their wedding in July would be an extreme understatement. I need to come up with a cute outfit to wear so I can blend in with the flyness I know their wedding will be…

Monique & Morris

Their wedding was shot 07.07.07, a very popular day that year. The ceremony was at my church home, and being a part of the photography ministry, I was very familiar with my surroundings. It was such a pretty day and I loved that the sunflowers were out in the field in front of the church. Their photos are still some of my favorite…

Random Alphas

This is a photo from my Fotojenics days when I was always taking pics at different college events. I believe this was after Branston’s probate, but don’t get me to lying. lol These fellas are also members of Alphia Phi Alpha but I don’t know what chapter. I know they didn’t go to our school though. Trust me I asked. lol

Jayden

This is a picture is of Tim & Mari’s baby boy. This lil cutie had the honor of sitting in a booster chair between mommy & daddy during the reception. I love this photo because he has that dear in the head lights look… like I busted him as he was about to get into something he wasn’t suppose to.

The Hollis Wedding

I loved this picture from Bro. & Sis. Hollis’s wedding in September. It was suppose to be a small wedding between First and Second service in the library… Well so many people had crammed into the library and were spilling into the hallway that there wouldn’t have been any room for the future Mrs. Hollis to walk down the aisle, so it was moved to the sanctuary. lol

Keylan

We took these pictures of Keylan at Mt. Bonnell when he was getting his masters from Texas State. He and I go way back to our college years when he was trying to court my best friend. I remember on several occassion him hitting me up on messenger asking if she talked about him at all. lol Of course I’d never snitch on my friend, but fast forward some years later, they’re married, with one adorable son we call KJ and another one due any day. So I GUESS it worked out huh?

The Carter Girls

Those lil piggies are of Cassandra and Serena. I’ve known their family since Cassandra was a few months old. When I decided to get more into children’s photography my good friend Rosana was more than happy to let me borrow her girls. lol No faces I know, but yes this is the full photo and one of Rosana’s favorites.

Keys 2 Da City

This photo is of Ernst at the Keys 2 Da City Battle last summer in Arlington, TX… In the back you see radio personality D-lyte. I absolutely LOVED taking these photos… they were so colorful! lol Only downside was that I got really sick from all the cigratte smoke and my friend’s “friend” said it looked like I died when we went over to his house to visit after the show because they found me laid out in the corner in one of his spare rooms. lol But the pictures came out good, almost worth my slight brush with death…

Mike

You should recognize this pic from my previous post. If you didn’t read it, that one was taken outside Planet K. Between taking these photos and going to Houston and back that day, it had to be one of the longest days of my life. But they came out great and I am glad I scheduled all that stuff on the same day. I can rest on Sunday… after church of course… The after church nap is where it’s at!

Kourtney

This was taken last year of Kourtney in Houston inside the bar at the DoubleTree hotel. Neither one of us are really drinkers, but I liked how her blue jacket jumped off the background. As you can see it is the only vertical picture I used… but I may go thru my millions of photos I have taken over the years and use some more vertical ones I really like.
